The New Year roared in with a storm voice that was heard around the world. North America as well as Europe was subject to record breaking cold waves and snow. Bangor, Maine, was blanketed under 36 inches. In Europe, the palm trees in Barcelona, Spain, were snow covered. Britain, Ireland and Northern Europe suffered more severely. Date: 1/7/1963
